H.W.P.S. Aorangi 3rd. Sept. 1872. My dear Maclean, I hope my letter to you of last week has duly arrived. I notice in the "Herald" that an Act will likely be passed just now to prohibit the importation of cattle or sheep, to guard against "Foot and Mouth disease." Last month, I ordered from Victoria some valuable Merino sheep, and they are likely to land here in a month. I will be very glad indeed if you can conveniently let me know if the Act is likely to interfere with the landing of the sheep.
