Wellington May 12, 1865 Dear McLean I can give you no answer at present about the Regt. we are fighting it out with Cameron I dont how many regts. will be removed at once till the Governor returns or I hear again from him but some go home. Things look generally satisfactory and all might have been at an end now if Cameron had done his work - Do not think that I think too little of the East Coast I know its importance - I consider your efforts have been very successful what has become of the Head and what of the prisoners? I am going South for a week to Canterbury. Yrs. faithfully Fred. A. Weld
