My dear McLean, I have reported to Trevor that a detacht. C.D.F. will march on Monday (weather permitting) and reach the stockade on Tuesday eve. or Wednesday morn. I also said that you were quite right in saying I concurred etc. As regards the It is I go on Saty. ev. by her to Poverty Bay as I told you in order to be there on the 20th. If the wind suits we can land you at Wairoa. If not perhaps you'd not mind coming on and we'd come back by Wairoa. I wish to be back by water or land on the 26th. but otherwise I don't care. where I go or what I do if I only keep my appointment at Poverty Bay. H. Russell never keeps appointments but however trivial they may be I never break them or I'd try and put off this. I hope this will suit you at all events when I get in tomorrow ev. or Sat. morn. we'll see if any better plan occurs to you. We must not forget the grub. I hope they have laid some in, but you are not fastidious and can rough it like me I am sure. Truly yours, G. S. Whitmore. 13 Oct.
