Wallingford Febry. 11th/63 My dear McLean, I see by the papers that you are returned from Auckland and as you will probably be in or about Napier I write to ask you to do what you can to get the Council's sittings fixed for as early a day as possible. When I left Napier, Carter told me that the 1st March was the day fixed on by (I suppose) J. Curling, with whom the decision rests. Not having seen any announcement to the above effect I conclude the day is postponed. Why I ask you to try and get an early day named is That the end of March and beginning of April are very busy times with us Inlanders, who have our flocks to arrange preparatory to the tupping season. Excuse haste, Yours always, J. D. Ormond
