Brooklands October 7th. 1850. Dear Mac Lean, I cannot allow your man to leave without writing a few hasty lines. Settlers are tumbling in fast, but there being no land for them, (except Trust) I apprehend many will leave for some other place. A great increase by the next ship is expected. How are they to be located? That is the question. To my thinking it will not be here. yet how shameful, with hundreds of thousands of acres of waste land about us, not to be able to locate a few individuals. The people are very clamorous for the Bell Block, which I think now may be given up,
