Tuesday morning. May 1861 My dear McLean, I wanted to see you yesterday before sending in a Recommendation to the Governor about the separation of your offices, you will see it embodied the results of our conversation the other morning except that I proposed Rogans appointment to be temporary. I was rather unwell last night and having taken physic shall stay at home for today if you are inclined for a walk and to come up this way you will find lunch at two oclock or if you will stay you can have a bed and we shall be glad to see you at dinner time presses so now before the session that if you cant come to see me today I hope you will be able to have a talk with me in the office tomorrow morning.
