June 1864. My dear McLean There is a meeting of importance here on Monday - and I stop to attend it Te Waru will be there - Mr. Brown seems anxious I should stop and so is Kopu. I send the 'Iris' tonight and Mohaka to put two or three men there. I believe it would be perhaps as well to have a Detacht. of 20 Mily. Settlers there before long. But we'll talk of this on my return I write a note to Mr. Fox detailing how things stand and shall I hope be able before my return to visit the scene of the wreck of the Ballarat and bring off the crew. If you have made other arrangements let me know. I'd say no more about a steamer till the Ahuriri comes out Kinross will however tell you of its worth while waiting for that. I only throw out a suggestion In haste believe me truly yours G. S. Whitmore
