My dear Maclean, Thank you for your private letter. I have done what you wished. Captain Luce will take you to Waiapu, back to Poverty Bay and thence to Napier if you can get no other mode of conveyance, he will remain three days at Poverty Bay in order that the Natives may see that the force to be sent there will be aided by a man of war if necessary. truly yours, G.
