Sept. 20/1870. My dear McLean, With regard to your proposal that I should name some one to value the Barracks etc. on behalf of the Govt., it will doubtless be expedient that Mr. Lewis, the Commissariat Officer now at Auckland sent out to wind up all these things, will act for the War Office. We can see him, and finally settle when we go to Auckland next week. Ever yours, G.F. Bowen. P.S. I suppose you have decided, and got a plan of exactly how much of the Mt. Cook Barracks at Wellington you wish to have. P.S. Your C.M.G. ought to be notified here, I think.
