Clive Grange August 5th. 1872. My dear McLean, Mr. Morrison advises me that Rowle of London made a mistake and packed a parcel of mine in Government case instead of a case of saddlery they were sending to me for the Halcione. I have some 38 cases by the ship Halcione, and this parcel was to have been tinned up in a saddery case, but has gone into Government hands in error. If you come across the parcel, will you kindly forward it to me. It was a stupid mistake at best. I hear you are as strong as ever in the Ministry, and you will get your 1 lease to quiet the country that refused to think necessary. Yours very truly (Signed) J. Rhodes. To:- The Hon. Donald McLean.
