Wakatu April 12th 1867 Dear Sir, I arrived here this afternoon after having been kept by bad weather a day or two at Tarawera - I met Paora Huriwanu here and he tells me that there is to be a great meeting at Orvanui (Hohepa's pa) in a day or so so that I shall go on there as you may like to know about it. The meeting I believe is about the fighting at Roturua - also about the Hauhau on the western shore of the lake - Paora tells me that no Hauhau have as yet gone from the western shore to Rotorua - but that there is talk of their doing so immediately - there are also rumours about fighting up here but I don't think that it will come to any thing more than talk - however before I return I will find out everything - I write this to you as I may not be able to get back quite so soon as I said when I started, there is a native going down to Pakaututu who has promised to give this either to Mr. Parsons and one of Col. Whitmores shepherds at Titiokura. Please excuse this rough note but it is written under many difficulties by fire light. believe me dear Sir Very sincerely yrs Jno. St. George
