P.S. (to foregoing letter) There has been a difficulty about money for Hawke's Bay. I never directed that the money should be sent. Much as is, amd may be required, and that a settlement should be made hereafter. There is but £54,000 of the English coin to be divided between Hawlce's Bay and Wellington. If Hawke's Bay requires more than its share, it can have it; but the balance will have to be paid for at 8-instead of 4 per cent. The settlement must be made by the Assembly. Pray push on your purchases, more particularly about the Island, if you find it practicable; and let me know (at your leisure) what purchases you have made, and where. Your letter arrived at a happy time, and I shall send it on, and Bishop williams' letter, as enclosures to a Despatch Direct Purchase. Turton writes satisfactorily. The feud at Tauranga has ceased. Amen. July 13th. in gseat haste. To:- Donald McLean Esq.
