Ma chere frere Was delighted to get your letter by the 'Ashley'. Whitmore's dinner comes off tonight. From all that one can gather it is to be a delightful affair. Major Carlyon does not approve of the ex super taking the chair. He & his wife called here yesterday (Sunday). Was full of the subject. Says he & some others will go to the club to make a noise. They lunch here tomorrow at two. Mr A'Deane, Mr Ormond etc are coming to tea on Thursday. Do not see much of the Greens. The Wisharts are most careful. Make candles & bake the bread, everything is done to economise. They keep the house beautifully clean. She knows nothing of cooking. I go out every day & hear all that goes on. A little tea party Nov 4 again seems to please very much. Met Tylee today. Strang against the dinner. Do get me a a bonnet & street jacket. They are so dear here some how. I have a contented feeling that matters are to go on pleasantly this Session. Dreamt of her most Gracious Majesty Queen apropo of something coming my way, perhaps a pair of gloves.
