If Mr. Medland considers himself a Member of the New Plymouth Police Force, he is requested to attend at the Barracks forthwith. (Signed) H. Halse. Sergt. Jan. 2nd. 1851. A.P.F. This was forwarded at half past eight in the evening, and answered in person at 9 p.m. He was still under the effects of liquor, and, I believe, had no intention to perform any duty for the night. I kept him on the move 3 hours, with a view to his own advantage, in which I succeeded for the night only, he being just as bad next day, and appeared with a black eye. (Signed)H.H.
