14-1-74 My dear Mr. McLean I send you an ad interim report -- What we are busy at now is picking out the Expenditure -- I don't suppose that will be completed before a fortnight, and I thought you would like to know how things stand with regard to acreage -- Provincial Council meet today -- Govt. are going in for £50000 at once and give a schedule of what they wish to do with the rest of the loan when they get it through the Assembly. Todays paper gives you the items -- After all the trouble taken the Post did put in an obnoxious and false telegram about Horowhenua, and last night apologizes to its readers for having done so, saying it was inserted by accident. Believe me Yours truly J. H. H.St. John
