January 6th. 1869. My dear Sir, I have enclosed the letters you mention, which were accidentally omitted in my Report. I hope the rough sketch plan will explain the route taken. I have also sent you a rough bird's eye sketch of Puketapu, - net much of a drawing, as I am no artist; but it will give you an idea of the country. Eripete is on the other side of the wooded hill, in the left front. I hope I have given you all the information you require, with regard to the Expedition. Henare is very anxious to start up from here. I saw Preece's letter to you on the subject. I hope the rain will not stop him. I am my dear Sir, faithfully yours (Signed) S. Deighton.
