Castle Point, March 24th. 1852. My dear Sir, I have this day arrived from Ahuriri. I came this day from Porangahau to Mr, Guthrie's. I believe that this block will commence a few miles on the North of Wareanma river to Tararua ranges, but Te Hapuku requested me to wait for him before I commence surveying operations here, Te Hapuku, Hori, Pahara are to be here at the beginning of next week, the Natives of Porangahau are for not selling but Te Hapuku told me that they should sell their lands. I wrote to you from Ahuriri by "Salopian" and shall avail myself of every opportunity of informing you of my proceedings. I am sorry that the field books have not arrived, they are to be got at the Government Survey Office. I hope to have them and paper by the first chance that there may be of sending also a few more forms for receipts. Mr. Guthre will be a good opportunity of sending. You may depend on my getting the boundaries surveyed as soon as circumstances will permit. Te Hapuku and Hori wish me to wait until they arrive which will be shortly. My wife desires to be very kindly remembered to yourself and Mrs. McLean. I shall endeavour to give you satisfaction before I leave the Governement employ. I think that living quietly at Waipukurau will suit me better than £150. I have made preparations for living there, my house is building. I remain, my dear Sir, Yours very faithfully, C.H. Louis Pelichet.
