Wairoa May 22nd 68 Sir, I have the honor to inform you that pending the sitting of the Nat. Lands Court, I have made the best arrangement possible at this present. The "Paeroa" and "Rato" blocks will remain temporarily in the occupation of Mr. John Davis - Mr Lee Solicitor whom Davis sent for to assist in procuring the continuance of his Lease used every endeavour to compel the natives to a distinct pledge. This I successfully resisted and the agency will rest in my hands- After the sitting of the Court and consequent settling of conflicting claims the matter will be again referred to you. I am glad to have influenced Mr. Carroll to concur in my views and I may count upon his Cooperation - I shall have occasion to visit Napier in the course of next week and will lay the particulars of the business before you. I have the honor to remain Sir, Your obed. servt. Geo. B. Worgan To His Honor D. McLean Esq.
