Auckland, 26th April, 1846. My Dear McLean, I have just received your letter of the 13th inst. and I am glad to learn that matters are going on satisfactorily with you, although you have a difficult job. Capt. King will inform you that the Coxswain of the Govt. boat (R. Cock) is to be added to the Police Force in order that he may receive higher wages and act under Capt. King in the various capacities of Coxswain Constable etc. which I hope will be convenient and agreeable to all parties. We still proceed prosperous here and are looking out for the recommencement of immigration from England to the Colony. I have no other news to tell you at present and being in a hurry I must close my letter. Before doing so however I may say in case you hear bad accounts of a fever at the Bishop's College here, that it is not of a formidable character and though many have been attacked only one Native has died, and from other causes as well as fever. I saw all the patients yesterday and observed no alarming symptom. Yours truly, A. Sinclair.
