Nelson 18 December 1859 My dear Sir Thanking you once more for the great kindness, shown to me during my stay in Wellington, I hope, that these lines will find you again in good health, so that you may safely arrive at Christchurch, feeling there very comfortable, being petted by the pretty hands of the amiable young ladies. Instantly after my arrival here, I went over the town in search of songs but unhappily I found that the store of one of the shopkeepers, who spoke of his stock, consisted of a few old antidiluvian songs, not worth sending, so that I am very sorry, that I cannot keep my promise. You receive with this note three Nelson Govt. Gazettes, containing Dr. Hochstetter's lecture. Hoping to hear very soon, that you are quite reestablished, I wish you a pleasant journey and I take the liberty to charge you with my best respects to Mrs. MacClean Misses Moody and Buckley, also to Capt. MacClean, Mrs. Dalzety and Buckley. Believe me always my dear Sir Yours very truly and faithfully Julius Haast Donald McLean Esqre. Chief Commissioner of Native lands etc.etc. Nelson
