Letter from H.G.B. to Donald McLean Esq. (no date.) My dear Mr. McLean, I can hardly tell you how much pleasure your letter gave me. I read the statement of the boy's flock with a feeling of the greatest satisfaction. It is so kind and good of you to do so much for the little fellow, and when he is old enough to know anything, he shall know to whom owes his 160 sheep. I am very glad you are doing so much at Ahuriri. It seems to me that you stand in need of a Fairy Wand to enable you to be in 4 places at once, as they all call out for your presence, and seem to think they are unfairly treated if you are not always at their beck and call. Douglas is spending the day with my child. He is looking so healthy and well, and she says -''Douglas is so much improved, I like him better than any other boy.'' His face brightened up when I told him I would write to you and tell you he was a good boy, and so strong that he was able to walk from Mrs. Kingdon's here. He has a very nice frank manner, and is most obedient, and well-behaved. Wishing you all the success you so richly deserve, believe me Yours very sincerely (Signed) H.G.B.
