28 July 1866 Maraekakaho My dear brother I received your note and glad to hear you were well. I am glad to say that we are all well hear and things going on smothly. You did not send me the oats affter plowing the land. I must get seed to put in their. I hope you will send me the oats. There is not a bushell of oats to be got in Napier. I hear that some of the west coast people are trying to get a footing in Patea. I hope as it was left to yourselfe and as you may be seeing some of the natives that you will try and secure the place.
