Waingohi, 25th Mar. /56. My Dear Sir, I regret it is quite out of my power to reply to your long and kind letter at length which contained all the news I am most interested in, I am delighted to find that you are so near the end of the accounts, and am very glad the Otakou idea has assumed such an aspect as to induce you to take a trip then anything you think best for us to adopt in that District I shall be glad to abide by and I hope sincerely that nothing will arise to interfere with my going down there on the Survey expedition. I send a Deed of sale for Tatarariki which I had little difficulty in having executed, The Natives are now dividing the money in a very good tempered way which makes me more reconciled to them than the turbulent impostors at Whangaroa --- My time has been well occupied lately and I think you will agree with me that forwarding the Deed so soon after the receipt of the money is something unusual for the North. Mr. Gettos is now preparing to leave and I must conclude by wishing success to the Otakou expedition and Believe me, Yours very sincerely, J. Rogan.
