Resolved. 1. That Alfred Newman Esqr. J. P. having, in letters dated - and - addressed to the Honble. the Col. Secretary thought fit make statements which are not only unsupported, but are contradicted, by facts; and in unfounded imputations, stated and implied, derogatory to the character of Justices sitting on the Bench, of which he has from its first formation been a Member, and once was Chairman; the undersigned Justices of the Peace hereby record their total want of confidence in the said Alfred Newman Esqre. J. P. Resolved. 2. That in consequence of the opinion above recorded (to which the undersigned have been reluctantly forced by Cap. Newman's own act) We, the undersigned Justices of the Peace, usually sitting as Members of the Waipukurau Bench, hereby declare that it is incompatible with the respect we owe to ourselves any longer to act in concert as a Bench with the said Alfred Newman Esqre. J. P.
