. Whaingaroa. 3 May. 1860. Friends, I have received your letter about the Europeans of Kawhia to stay and be parents to you. This is the subject which is in my thoughts, - Your fault to the Europeans of Kawhia, the taking (or robbing) of their property, -- robbing their property, and then asking them to stay. If it was not for the robbery, your words might have been listened to. As it is, the words come in robbing. My thoughts, therefore, is, the Europeans must go away in peace, to where they please. The thoughts of the elderly men are right. But you will (or do) not know the intentions of some of you. But now you must look to the going in peace of the Europeans. Your friend. (unsigned) To:- Nuitone Te Pakara. Takerei Ngamotu. Arratipa. Kipa, Hone Punipi Matene Nuitone. Paora. Rapata. Hone Te One.
