Umangawha Septr. 21st 1862 Dear Sir With reference to the Block of land mentioned by Tikaokao, I am unfortunately unable to give you much information but, from the names in your letter, I make out that it lies to the north of the Mahakirau - and will be a long narrow strip of land, of what extent I cannot tell as I am unacquainted with some of the localities mentioned. I have commenced the survey of Tahana Kerei's 4 Blocks all of which will be very small, but the soil of good quality. He has also told me of a large block, situated at Waikawau on the opposite Coast, which he is desirous of selling, if these four blocks are settled satisfactorily. Before I leave for Town, I will go over there and endeavour to get an estimate of the area and boundaries. As the Government have sent me down £50 which will cover all the expenses of this trip, I think I had better repay you the £20, as if it had been a loan to me, it will save some trouble in the accounts and I will repay it to you upon my arrival in Town.
