News has just come down that Ngatiporou are up with Kooti, and that his prisoners have got away, and are now on their way down. Those who are coming back must therefore have been only a portion of our force. This is a much better condition of things than we at all looked for this morning. If it should be possible to make a rapid movement now up to the Waikaremoana country, it might, by God's blessing, settle the whole business. Two dray loads of supplies, which had been stopped in consequence of this morning's news, are just starting off. (Signed) W.L. Williams To:- D. McLean Esq.
