5 Aug. 1864 My dear McLean This is to introduce to you the Seat of Government Commissioners to whom I regret I am unable myself to show that civility their kindness in coming over to settle our difficulties merits at the hands of all New Zealanders. Mr. Neill chaperoned them round the Waikato and they would like to see the plains or anything their short stay will permit of our place - Use my orderlies in any way you like to serve as guides or messengers to help out your hospitality, and believe me truly yours G. S. Whitmore
