My dear McLean, The House decided late last night after a severe debate that you and Archdeacon Hadfield are to be examined on Tuesday next. It is declared that there are a vast number of persons who have proprietary rights on the Waitera land and more particularly six persons at Waikanae or Otaki. It will be as well that you should prepare yourself for a sharp cross examining. The debate on providing funds for another conference is to come on today. I can close the conference whenever you please and Taylor wishes me then to present the silver sticks to the Whanganui natives. He wants their names engraved on them. Yours sincerely, T. G. B.
