Master-ton, 27th Augt./71 My Dear Sir, We reached here this afternoon in safety after a journey of peril. Yesterday the wind was awful. It blew down trees and everything. A chimney at the Golden Fleece was blown down from the Effects of the Gale. We attempted the Rimutaka and were compelled to return I am at Mrs. Dixon's which is comfortable so far. I send you a copy of letters which have been addressed to the Supt. regarding some road business. His reply thanking me will be in Wellington when I return there is nothing in them except to show that they want our assistance at time I hope a parcel enveloped in a Railway rug reached your house Farr sent on some small a/c to you. If Douglas will hunt it up before I go north I will square it with you. Hoping sincerely that all things political will prosper with you this session. I am yours very faithfully, J. Rogan.
