Wairoa November 24th. 1868 Sir, Numbers of natives who are now advancing to the Front are necessitated to leave their women and childred almost without any means of sustenance. The natives make complaints of this. I beg, in conjunction with Mr. Hamlin, to recommend that half rations be issued to them; also that from 50 to 100 of the best mon left behind be placed on pay and rations, until the return of the force.
