Meanee Flats, Napier 9th November 1872 Honorable Sir, You have had the kindness while I was in Wellington to promise me some new help towards buying drugs for the poor sick Natives. And I come humbly to beg of your charity the fulfilling of your promise. You kindly allowed me £40 during the course of the last twelve months. I have several times renewed my stock of drugs and I am at present in great need of having in again a large supply. Would you in you please, Honorable Sir, let me know at an early opportunity, what sum you are able to dispose of towards this benevolent purpose, and when I can get it, in order to enable me to make my purchases according to my means. I wish to get my drugs from Auckland for I can have them much cheaper there than here. God bless you, Honorable Sir, and reward you manifold for your charity.
