I have taken 28 prisoners, - 8 men, 12 women, and 8 children, - with 12 cances. On the 14th. and 15th. I scoured the Whakapunake Range, and partially destroyed large potato cultivations. Reweti, Hamita, and Paora te Mahihi are among the prisoners. These are Chiefs of the Temalonarangi tribe. They state that 40 men under Nama and Nikora, of the escaped prisoners, arrived at Opoiti on the 15th. Oct, and were marched to Maru Maru to Mathew's house, and returned to Puketapu next day, taking with them all the wives of the men who had joined the rebels. N.B.
