17th. June 1850. My dear Sir, I am very sorry to inform you that the Mouries are becoming very clamorous about their money, so much so that they tell us distinctly we have no right to the land. The other day some of them went where my sheep are running with a number of dogs and killed a great many of them and scattered the rest God knows where. On hearing of it, I immediately started and actually chased the dogs to the Pah where of course they were killed, but in complaining of their conduct and breach of their promise to you, they said they were not answerable for their promise as you did not hold to yours in several other trifling matters they hold forth the same arguments. I hope this may meet you on your way up as you really very much wanted here. Trusting you have passed your time agreeably in Town among the fair dames of our capital and wishing you a quick return with the Hut. I remain, My dear Sir, Yours very truly, James McDonell.
