Clyde Te Wairoa February 24th. 1869 Sir, I have the honor to report, for the information of the Government, that a woman named Ka Tama arrived at Matete's Pa on the night of the 21st. She is the wife of Paora Waiwera, who died at Maruhakeke, after being wounded in first E.C. Campaign at Turanga. She says that she escaped from the fight at Te Karetu, and has been wandering in the Bush ever since. She is at present in a state of great exhaustion from fatigue, and want of food, and unable to give any very succient account of her proceedings. I gather from her tale that Te Waru having escaped from the engagement, abandoned Te Kooti; and that he has not been with him since, so far as any knowledge she possesses, (evidently not very great) extends. The scouting party from Mohaka have reached Putere, capturing a man named Te Titu, and have pushed on to Nga Patahi. For a time any movement from here is put a stop to. Te Ipatu has, however, gone again up coast to meet Ihaka, if possible. I have the honor to be, Sir, Your obedient servant (Signed) Geo. Worgan. To:- His Honor D. McLean.
