New Treasurer Appointed at AGM

A Lower Hutt accountant, Ian White, has been appointed National Treasurer of Forest and Bird. ‘I have always had a general interest in conservation issues and have been a member of Forest and Bird for 10 years, Ian White says. ‘My practical involvement has been quite limited — I’m probably somewhat representative of the many "unseen" members, who read the magazine, make some donations, and stay reasonably informed on conservation

issues. ‘The main contribution I see myself making to Forest and Bird is by using my business experience to provide financial guidance and support to both the Executive and management. By doing this we can ensure that the financial side of the organisation is under control, thereby enabling people to focus on the core, conservation related, aspects of their roles. The National President, Dr Gerry McSweeney, has formally thanked another Executive Councillor, Helen Campbell, for her work as acting-treasurer over the past year.
