£4,000,000 LINEN DEAL.
SHARE OF PROFITS CLAIMED. LONDON, March 24. Mr Leonard Martin, who came into prominence last year/ through his purchase of £4,000,000 .worth of surplus linen which the British Government had acquired for war purposes, has been sued by Walter Sheepy for a third of the profits on the transaction. Mr Sheepy, who claimed that he had introduced the deal to Mr Martin was awarded £4OOO. Mr Martin announced his intention of appealing. Mr Leonard Martin , bought 40,000,000 yards of surplus linen from the British Government in June last for £4,000,000. He claimed to have “jumped’} the position, paying 2/ a yard, while the Belfast manufacturers were waiting for a sacrifice bargain. He expected to make £360,000 on the deal.
