THE WAIMARINO ELECTORATE.
The Waimarino electorate is -a d;fi‘icult ‘one to work, and covers a. large al-ea_ In stjme parts there is not a single ' voter to be found in a sixty miles journey. The present voting roll has not been purged for five yeaJrs,and.as indicating the interest taken, it may be mentioned that already 1300 new names have been entered on the "rolls. "The present» constituency ‘is vastly differ- ! ent from the old one, and shows many 1 alterations in the pofsonnelof the electorate. A glance at ‘the inaii will indicate how far the boundary line of the Waimarino electorate,'which includes Taumarunui as the headquartei-s, stretches. Running from Waimiha, on the Main Trunk line, between Taumarunui and Te Kuiti, the boundary follows the eastern Bank Qof the On-garue river to Mount Pureora, from thence travelling in «an «easterly direction to the mouth of the Waihora stream, on the banks of Lake Taupo. From there it takes in the northern shore of the " lake to-a point close to -the “Terraces” hotel, at Onekene, then in an "easterly easterly direction to Rangitikei, on the Napier-Taupe road, then in‘ a. southerly direction through the Kaimanawa Ranges rat a point on the Ngarnio River, then in a westerly direction to the Rangitikei River, at the crossing of the main road from Moawhango to Napier to its intersection with the main road from Moawh-ango, thence by’ that . road to the north-Western’ corner of section 9, block 5. Cflfifiexvairua thence by a right line due west to I the North Island train Trunk line at; :.[‘urangal'el"e. From ‘that point’ to] Mataroa the-railway line forms the} boundary between Rangitikei and thel Wairnariiio electorate; at: this. ‘point the township of Mataroa is in ‘the R_angi'tikei, but the rural delivery is in the Wnimarino, thence in a. westerly direction to the '\Vanvganui river to the mouth of ‘the Paparoa stream, thence’ taking the easterly bank of the Wa‘nga--11111 River, thence to the southern boundary of section 17, a few miles below Aukopae. At this point the Wanganui River’ is crossed, and a no.rth-westerly! direction to the Kakahi stream, thence in a northerly and easterly direction to the Ongarue River at the mouth of the Opitiki stream, thence by the east‘erly bank -of the Ongfifi River to Oka-' hukura, «at which point the township is‘ in the Waimarino a,nd the tunnell in the Vfaitomo. From this point. the l eastern bank of the Ongarua is still‘ followed, and the township of Ongarue l is in Waifomo, and the suburb on the 1 eastern bank of the stream is in th:-l Waimnl'inQ. From this point the eD.st— ! ern bank of the Ongarue is still t'ollo*.\'ed to the starting point at l.Vaimella.
