FOOTBALL.
On Saturday the match between the Pirate and Mataroa Juniors was postponed owing to Mataroa not having sufficient notice. However, a. practice match was played until 3 p.lll.
The SClli=Ol's fixture, Huia. V. Rover, commenced at 3.15. Bennett. won the toss and ‘elected to defend the northern goal. The followers wore the players. However, the Rovers were not to be denied, and came again, but Bennett, who was playing a sterling game, again saved his side by a smart kick which was smartly followed up. and Con—nolly, who dashed down the field and passed to Rogers, who showed great. pace, and put in a run from half-way, and got over the Rovers’ line, scoring.
