[Theodore Roosevelt was horn in New York on October 27, 1858. He was Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Navy, 1897; organised U.S. Cavalry Volunteers (Roosevelt’s Rough Riders) and commanded it in Cuba, 1898; was Governor of New York State, 18981900; Vice-President of United States, 1901; President, 1908; and author of works on history, biography, big-game hunting, etc.]

The United Press London correspondent states the King and Queen have expressed regrets at Roosevelt’s death and cabled condolence.
