JOURNALISTS' AWARD COMES IN FORCE. AN UNEXPECTED RESULT. Received. 10.5. : SYDNEY, this day. As an outcome of the Journalists' Award (cabled on 25th) three, newspaper proprietaries in Sydney have given all members of their staffs affected by the award a fortnight's or-
a month's notice, with a view to reorganisation of its staffs. A REFERENDUM ILLEGAL. BRISBANE, this day. The full Court granted an injunction against taking the proposed referendum on the abolition of the Legislative Council (cabled on the 4th). T>h e Court held it was illegal to take a referendum in conjunction with the Federal Elections.
