A well known Geneva newspaper lias it that the exact effect of the Zeppelin raids reaches Berlin before it is allowed to bc known in France through the Press. The resignation of th e late General Gallieni was announced in the German papers before
it was given out to the French. The gossip in the Paris boulevard cafes is repeated in the beer halls of Enter dor Linden before the week is out. How it is done is a mystery. The “shut up’’ notices that one sees in every French railway carriage or tram car are more than justified. They read “ Mefiez-vous, taisez-vous; les orcilles onnemis vous ecoutont!” “Beware, be silent; hostile oars listen.”
