THE MARTON FATALITY.
THE INQUEST.
An inquest was opened at the Marton Court-house on Monday morning into, the cnicumstances surrounding the death of the late George Fyfe Bishop who was run. over and killed by a train on Saturday night, before Mr. J. J. McDonald (coroner) and the following jury: Messrs F. Spencer (foreman), P. J. Sladden, F. R. H. B'rice, H. Gordon, H. Sutcliffe and J. Nutter. After viewing the body and the scene of the fatality, the eyidence cf Constable James Sweeney was taken. Witness stated that he had known the deceased for about fourteen months, and identified the body lying at his late residence as that of George Fyfe Bishop.
The inquest was then adjourned until Friday, the 12th inst., at 1 o'clock. The Foreman stated that it had been suggested that brilliancy of the lights of the engine had contributed towards the fatality, and the jury will visit the scene again when the goods train passes the crossing.
