OUTBOARD THRILL BOAT LEAPS COMPETITOR A narrow escape from serious injury occurred when one outboard speedboat jumped over another in the last race on the Whau on Saturday. The crew of the under boat was missed by inches only. At the top turn of the course Nymph, driven by Mr. E. J. Schofield, was caught in Chief’s wake, bounced, and then flew through the air over Chief. Her fin and propeller-guard splintered Chief’s starboard gunwale about five feet from the stern. Only the great speed of Nymph prevented her from hitting Chief's crew, Mr. O. J. Melvern, driver, and Mr. O. C. Bushbrook, mechanic. Mr. Bushbrook was seated in the stern, and Mr. Melvern in the bow and Nj'mph went between the two men.
