JOLLY DANCE EVENING A most enjoyable dance evening was Held at “Daltonville,” Epsom, on Saturday evening. The guests of honour were Miss Lorna Andrew and Mr. Wal. Johnston, whose engagement was recently announced. Large bowls of sunflowers added to I the colourful decorations, which toned j from primrose to orange. Miss Edna Thomas, the hostess, received her guests wearing a gown of green satin beaute with an overskirt of frilled tulle. I Miss Lorna Andrews had on a frock | of cherry georgette and silver lame, j Miss Jean Kent a frock of black j taffeta with uneven hemline. Miss Haszard was in a lace frock, with shoulder spray. Miss Connor wore a gown of apricot taffeta. Miss Olive Chiplan had on a frock of cameo pink georgette. Miss McNeil’s frock was of mauve taffeta and silver lace. Miss Iligginson was in blue chiffon, with sequin motifs. Miss Cahill had on a frock of floral georgette. Miss Watts chose coral crepe de chine. Miss Alison’s gown was of lemon taffeta with french bow. Miss Asher wore a frock of figured chiffon. Miss Amy Chiplan was in black georgette. AN ENGAGEMENT The engagement is announced of Kathleen Claire, fifth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. B. O’Connor, Devonport, to James Desmond, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Curtayne, Ascot Avenue, Devonport.
