FOOLED BY CUNNING COMPATRIOT MUST LEAVE COUNTRY Claiming that his client, an Indian* who is ignorant of the English language, had been deceived by a fellow countryman »nd defrauded of £l5O, Mr. Jacobean asked for leniency when Bhagtu was charged at the Police Court this morning. Bhagtu, a labourer, aged 37, was charged with overstaying the terjn specified in his temporary immigration Permit. Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., ordered him to be deported and fined him £2O. Mr. Jacobsen pleaded guilty and aaid the man had not deliberately overstayed his time. Two years ago he had given a fellow countryman £l5O to arrange an extension of his Permit. He was astounded when he M as arrested while he was working in |he country because he had genuinely nougat he was a free man.
