A Rainbow Fair held on Thursday and Friday by the Women’s Guild of St. George’s Church was a great success. The fair was opened by the mayor, Mr. W. Bongard. Good business was done at all the stalls, and the concert —given in connection with the function —was greatly appreciated. A good deal of assistance came from Tapu, Thornton’s Bay, Puriri, Matatoki and Kopu.
A girls’ cricket club has been formed at Coromandel.
Mr. J. D. McDonald, from Hastings, has taken up teaching duties at the Thames High School in place of thQ late Mr. L. A. Watkins.
Fireman E. Kenny, of the Thames Volunteer Fire Brigade, will shortly be the recipient of the gold star and gold medal in recognition of 25 years’ continuous service in the brigade. The star is given by the New Zealand Fire Brigade Association, and the medal by the Thames Borough Council.
