ELDERLY MAN’S GIFT

LEGACY TO YOUNG WOMAN From Otii' Oicn Correspondent GISBORNE, Today. A young woman of Gisborne has received a legacy of £2,000 by the will of an elderly man, of Auckland, who died a few days ago. Nearly 12 years ago the young woman, then only a child, became seriously ill, and when she became convalescent was taken to Auckland. It was then that she met the old man, who was so attracted by her that he endeavoured to adopt her. Her parents, ho-wever, would not agree, and when she recovered she returned home. Since then, except for a brief correspondence and an occasional gift, she had heard nothing of her friend until she w r as told of the provision made for her in his -will.
