Catholic Guild Holds Gay Dance
STUDENTS ENTERTAIN POPULAR FUNCTION A most enjoyable annual dance was arranged by the committee of the Catholic Students’ Guild at the Symondsville Studio last evening. A RTISTICALLY shaded lights and novel effects gave a charming : aspect to the ballroom, and the lilting : music by Adams’s Orchestra as j | greatly appreciated by the dancers. ; Hostesses present were:—Mrs. T. J. Buxton, who also presided over the ! destinies of the supper room; Airs. Cyril Towsey, wearing a black lace frock with fur wrap, and Airs. AN. Scholium, in a black mariette gown and fur coat. , .. i Mr. P. Soljak and Mr. G. Toy divi ided the duties of dance secretaries, and the committee comprised Aliss Peggy Flynn, wearing a becoming frock of floral chiffon in tones of oyster and cherry. Aliss E. Creedcn. whose frock was deep capucine taffeta and georgette, with long handkerchief pointed skirt. Aliss Audrey Gray, who wore apple green taffeta banded with georgette. Aliss Winifred. Cooke, in honey coloured charmeuse alternated with sapphire blue lace. Aliss K. Hackett. wearing a picture frock of almond green georgette and satin Aliss Molly Moynihan. who is secretary of the Wellington branch of the Catholic Students' Guild, was wearing a cherry georgette frock encrusted in silver, and a sapphire blue and rose Spanish shawl. AMONG THOSE PRESENT Aliss Laurie Marshall wore a picture frock of white georgette and satin; Aliss Marie Drysdales frock was lettuce green georgette; Aliss Lulu Drysdale was in cameo pink and gold lace; Aliss Lily McGuire wore a sea green georgette frock with frilled skirt; Miss Driscoll (Wellington), was in japonica pink chiffon with shawl to tone; Miss A. Heaton wore a delphinium blue georgette frock with befriiled skirt; Aliss A. Wright had on a lace frock mounted on rose georgette; Aliss Jew was wearing an iris blue georgette frock with silver lace; Miss Gwen Jews frock was coral georgette with flared skirt; Aliss Agatha Devlin wore scarlet circ lace over charmeuse to tone; Aliss Devlin was in apple green georgette mounted on green crepe de chine: Miss B. Bardsley wore black flounced georgette; Alias A. Scansey was in shell pink‘georgette; Aliss O’Brien’s frock was pale lavender tulle of picture design; Miss White was in rose taffeta with bouffant skirt of ankle length; Alias Jagusch. was in mauve georgette; Aliss M. Hawkins wore marigold taffeta with petailed skirt; Miss B. Heaton was in lemon georgette with uneven hemline; Aliss B. Little wore a floral georgette frock in cherry tones; Aliss Al. Reid’s frock was carnation georgette beaded in crystal: Aliss X. Reid was in blush rose pink; Aliss A. Creedon was frocked in ciel blue georgette banded on the skirt with shell pink taffeta; Aliss Doreen Kalauarher wore turquoise green taffeta; Aliss E. Lynch had on a blue befriiled frock of georgette; Aliss F. Johansen wore ! mauve and silver; Aliss Rona Kelly had on electric blue chiffon velvet; Miss Noel AlcCarthy wore mauve shadow lace over charmeuse to tone; Aliss Aloya. Clark was in jade green paris net, mounted on satin: Aliss Al. Blythe wore a cherry red frock of chenille and georgette; Aliss C. Little was frocked in orange georgette beaded in crystal; Aliss May Tyler wore azure blue taffeta and silver, with uneven hemline; Aliss Al. Jones was in jade green geoi'gette; Aliss Scanlon wore shell pink crepe de soio appliqued in pastel embroideries; Aliss r. Berghan's frock was flame taffeta with uneven hem; Miss E. Little had on a picture frock of duchess blue taffeta: Miss A. Hines wore pastel pink lace over crepe de chine; Miss P. Reilly, black paris tulle brightened with cerise boAV. FANCY DRESS DANCE FOR KINGSLAND CHURCH FUNDS | A bright fancy dress dance was lield i in St. George’s Hall. Ivingsland, re- | eentlv, in aid of St. Chad’s Church, i Edendale. The fancy dresses were very i clever, and it was exceedingly difficult ; for the judges to choose the prize costumes. Tiie judges were Aliss S. E. ; Jackson and Aliss Taylor.
