STRANDED FISHERMAN
SLEEPING IN LAUNCH NOW IN “ARMY’S” CARE j Left behind when the boat to which he belongs sailed on a fishing trip, Harry Smith, a Maori fisherman aged 22, has been | sleeping on a private launch. ' Smith was charged at the Police Court this morning with being found i on the launch Summitt, owned by Mr. ! Frederick Porter. He did not plead. Sub-inspector McCarthy was of | opinion that it was not a serious case. The Maori had been sleeping on the | boat when stranded in Auckland. The | owner found that someone had been ! sleeping on board and informed the police, with the result that Smith was found asleep at 1.30 this morning. Being assured by Staff-Captain Holmes, of the Salvation Army, that Smith would be cared for his | boat returned on Tlierd-’V K. I Hunt, S.M., dismissed the charge.
